Elder Update

Dear DCC Church Family -

The DCC Elder Council would like to announce two changes coming to the Elder team this summer.

First, Bruce Davis has requested and been granted a leave of absence from the Council, effective June 4. Bruce has served faithfully on the Council since 2013, and without a substantial break. This break for the summer will give Denise and him the opportunity to celebrate her recent retirement from teaching, and allow him to invest some extra time in his growing family. He plans to return to the Council in the fall.

Second, since 2001, Jerry Johnson has served faithfully as a member of the DCC Elder Council. Upon his retirement from the Council in 2020, he agreed to step into the newly-created role of Elder Emeritus, and for the last 4 years he has served faithfully in that role, attending meetings and assisting the Council with helpful input, wisdom and a wealth of lessons learned from history. He has been an invaluable asset to the Elders, and we are indebted to him for his sacrificial service in being the first to both hold and help us shape the Elder Emeritus role. Jerry's term concludes this month, and he has indicated his desire to step away from the Elder Emeritus role to be able to spend more time with his wife Barbie and their family. He has graciously expressed a willingness to continue to offer insight and wisdom to the Council as requested.

Both Bruce and Jerry will still be around, using their gifts in service to DCC as faithful church members. When you see them, please thank them for their service, and join us in praying that the Lord will raise up future Elders to serve faithfully as they have.

Bruce and Jerry
